With the holidays fast approaching, here are 6 tips to prioritize self-care so you can reduce the overwhelm and truly enjoy this time of year!

1. Self-Care Advent Calendar

Buy an advent calendar with daily self-care tasks—like a cup of tea, a short meditation, a bubble bath, or a gratitude exercise. This turns self-care into a fun, festive ritual.

2. Savor Quiet Moments

Find peaceful moments amidst the hustle. A quiet walk in the park, sipping hot cocoa in silence, or journaling holiday reflections can be rejuvenating.

3. Indulge in a Self-Gift

Why wait for others to give you what you want? Indulge and buy yourself a gift—something meaningful, practical, or just luxurious.

4. Say “no” without Guilt

It’s okay to decline invitations or obligations that feel overwhelming. Protecting your energy allows you to enjoy the season more fully.

5. Mindful Celebrations

Engage in traditions intentionally. Whether decorating, baking, or wrapping gifts, doing these things mindfully and savoring each step can reduce stress and enhance joy.

6. Set Realistic Expectations

Don’t strive for a “perfect” holiday. Let go of perfectionism and instead focus on meaningful moments.

Happy Thanksgiving!

What are you wearing?

There’s real truth behind the idea that your outfit can influence how you feel throughout the day. And in today’s world, where many of us have shifted to working from home or adopted a hybrid work model, it’s more important than ever to recognize the connection between what we wear and how we feel.

The Pajama Dilemma

When I first started working from home full-time, I reveled in the freedom of staying in my pajamas all day or changing into the comfiest clothes I owned—the kind I probably wouldn’t wear outside the house (except maybe for a quick trip to Walmart!). It was liberating not to have to think about what to wear every day.

The Mood Shift

After awhile, I noticed something surprising: my mood began to align with my outfit. I slipped into a lazy mode, where even my usual enthusiasm for working out started to fade. I love Pilates and spinning on my bike, but I found myself making excuses to skip my workouts. The ease and comfort of my laid-back attire now affected not just my physical health, but also how I was showing up for work and, more importantly, for myself.

Dressing with Intention

I started to dress for the day with intention. The act of putting on my workout outfit was a mental switch that motivated me to follow through on my fitness goals,

When not working out, even if I wasn’t leaving the house, I’d put on an outfit that made me feel put-together. It was simple as wearing my favorite stretchy jeans or a soft knit dress. I'd apply a light layer of foundation to make me feel fresh and ready for anything.

I felt more energized, more focused, and more confident.

Elevate your Mood, Elevate your Life

When you dress with intention, you’re sending a message to yourself that you’re ready to show up and take on whatever comes your way. This intentionality doesn’t just elevate your mood—it can also influence the people around you.

How are you showing up for your husband or when you’re out running errands or when you’re picking up the kids from school?

What you wear not only affects your own mood, but it also sets the tone for how others perceive and interact with you.

Show up with Confidence

When you show up with confidence, that energy is contagious. It lifts the spirits of those around you and creates a positive atmosphere that benefits everyone.

Feeling confident and beautiful in your clothes isn’t just for the runway models or the fashionistas of the world. It’s something attainable for absolutely anyone, no matter your age or body type. Fashion is a form of self-expression—a creative outlet that allows you to tell your own story without uttering a word. It’s not about conforming to trends or fitting into a specific mold; it’s about celebrating who you are.

My 18 year old daughter, a natural blonde, dyed her hair dark brown with pink highlighted ends and complemented this with a somewhat punk clothing style and added vintage pieces she found at consignment stores which she still frequents often. She has created her own unique style, has fun hunting for consignment separates to mix and match with and she hardly ever conforms to current trends. She is just her!

Now I know we aren't 18 anymore. If you’re like me, you're well beyond that age. But having fun with expressing yourself doesn’t have to end at a certain age. When you embrace your personal style, you’re not just putting on clothes; you’re putting on confidence. What you wear has the power to influence how you feel throughout the day. It’s a reflection of your personality, your mood, and even your values.

Think of your wardrobe as a palette of possibilities. Each piece of clothing is a brushstroke, contributing to the masterpiece that is you. Don’t be afraid to experiment and discover what makes you feel most like yourself.
